CNC Machined A357-T6 Aluminum Axle Housing Prototype Casting for Military Application(Click on pictures to enlarge)  Adhering to MIL-STD-276 standards, we fabricated these sand cast axel housings used in the heavy truck/military industry. Aerostar Manufacturing developed functional prototypes of the housings to minimize product development risks. The differential cases were cast from A357-T6 aluminum and CNC machined to exact customer specifications. Through sand casting, we produced these axel housings free from porosity and shrinkage cracks. The sand cast raw aluminum parts were precision machined on our lathe and milling machines with tolerances close to 0.001". We heat treated the differential cases to ensure optimal material characteristics. Finally, the housings were assembled with gears and bearings. With in-house pressure testing and CMM inspecting capabilities, we performed a number of in-process tests on these parts during production.
