Prototype Polypropylene (PP) Blow Molded Plastic Air Inlet Duct

A prototype polypropylene blow molded plastic air inlet duct used in automotive air intake assemblies, was molded from a tool machined by us for a client from the automotive industry. Using unfilled polypropylene material, we initially blow molded and then trimmed the air inlet duct at tight tolerances of ± 0.015". Customer-supplied CAD prints and 3D models of the inlet duct were used directly for production of the tooling to be used on our blow molding machines. We produced 21,000 pieces of these plastic ducts per year, performed CMM inspections, and delivered them to the customer on time.
