Due to the high tariff rates coming out of China, a General Motors tier 1 supplier needed to locate an alternate global sourcing solution to manufacture an automotive fuel pump housing. Aerostar met this challenge by providing a full supply chain solution, managed in the U.S., and partnered with IATF certified connections overseas.
Automotive fuel pump housings are very high precision machined components. They require tight tolerance machining with high attention to detail, The Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process was used to ensure all the quality standards of components met the production requirements of the customer.
By utilizing a trusted overseas partner from India, Aerostar provided a full supply chain management team, direct engineering, and quality support to their overseas partner. Aerostar equated to an alternative cost-competitive supply base outside of China. This allowed the tier 1 to avoid passing price increases on to GM.
